Southern Alberta is one of Canada's most demanding climates for residential construction. Extreme temperature swings, relentless wind, intense UV exposure, and heavy snow loads all conspire against a poorly designed home.
At Green Castle Environmental, we don't design for the show suite. We design for the real climate — and we back every decision with building science, not just aesthetics.
The envelope is everything. We specify continuous insulation, meticulous air sealing, and triple-pane glazing as standard — not upgrades. The result is a home that holds its temperature, reduces mechanical load, and stays comfortable whether it's -35°C or +35°C outside.
Every Timberline Bungalow is designed to be net-zero ready from day one. That means the mechanical systems, electrical rough-in, and structural design are all sized and positioned to accept solar, battery storage, and EV charging without costly retrofits later.
We source locally where possible and specify low-VOC finishes, sustainably harvested lumber, and durable cladding systems throughout. The goal is a home that's healthy to live in from day one — and that won't need replacing in fifteen years.
The Timberline Bungalow is oriented to capture Alberta's abundant winter sun and shade summer heat gain. Overhangs, glazing ratios, and thermal mass are all calculated — not guessed — to reduce heating and cooling demand year-round.
A tight building envelope only works with proper ventilation. We install heat recovery ventilators (HRVs) as standard, ensuring a continuous supply of fresh, filtered air without sacrificing the energy efficiency of the envelope.
