The Start of Warmth

New & Improved

We promote the use of sustainable and impact resistant roofing & siding.  We use minimum 26ga steel for roofing, soffits & fascia.  We offer numerous siding choices including fibre cement, metal, ACM & phenolic panels

The purpose of the air barrier in your wall system is to stop the movement of air through the system while allowing any trapped vapour to move to the exterior of the wall system.  We install Tyvek Home Wrap as our minimum standard.  Upgrades can be made into vapour permeable peel & stick membranes like Soprastick VP.

The vapour barrier in your wall system is exactly as it sounds.  It is there to prevent water vapour from moving through the wall system.  We incorporate a hybrid vapour barrier utilizing 6 mil poly for the exterior walls and 3/4" T&G OSB panels installed directly to the underside of the roof trusses.  This creates a structural box in the roof system that virtually eliminates any potential movement.  Paired with Tescon Vana 100 Year Joint tape the system far exceeds standard poly as a ceiling vapour barrier.

Effective Insulation Value

We have enlisted the expertise of Aqua Solanor Inc. to help us design our Net Zero solar systems.  We are able to offer a full energy package that provides heating, domestic hot water and electrical power.  Net Zero homes are here to stay and are available now.  Proposed building code changes in 2025 and 2030 are going to make these systems essential for every home in the country.

Indoor air quality and energy efficiency is of the upmost importance to the Green Castle Team.  Every house we build is fitted with a HEPA filtered Energy Recovery Ventilator (ERV) or a HEPA filtered Hear Recovery Ventilator (HRV).  They both allow for the constant exchange of stale inside air with fresh outside air while saving energy & money.  They also allow for the elimination of traditional bathroom exhaust fans.

Insulation is a the key to keeping out Canada's extreme weather.  All of our houses are built with raised heel trusses and R60 Cellulose Insulation in the attic to eliminate thermal bridging where your exterior walls meets the ceiling.  We also offer advanced wall systems that far exceed current building and energy codes.
